Albion sign Dutch attacker

Netherlands' Under 21 striker becomes 11th player to join the Seagulls this summer

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Holland under-21 attacker Elvis Manu from Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Albion, subject to international clearance, and will be available for selection after the international break.

Manager Chris Hughton commented, “We are really pleased to have brought in another offensive option, and what Elvis will bring us is a different type of striker, and also a player who has played in the wide areas.

Born to Ghanaian parents in Dordrecht, Manu progressed through the ranks at Feyenoord’s academy and subsequently scored his first goal for the first-team in a 3-2 win at Heerenveen in May 2012.

The Dutch winger then had loan spells with Excelsior and SC Cambuur in 2012/13 and 2013/14 respectively.

While on loan at SC Cambuur he scored five goals in 15 Dutch Eredivisie appearances, including a goal against PSV Eindhoven in February 2014.

Last season saw Manu establish himself at Feyenoord, and also announce himself on the European stage – with a total of 14 goals in 37 outings last season in the Dutch Eredivisie, Champions League and Europa League.
