BIMM partner with The Great Escape

Partnership includes talks from high-profile guests, showcase events and educational panels

The British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) are the Lead Educational Partner of The Great Escape Festival for 2015.

At the three-day event, taking place May 14th-16th, BIMM will host a series of events which will reflect the combination of cutting-edge music and immersive education that has been the hallmark of BIMM’s success.

An official BIMM live showcase, a series of educational BIMM Student Sessions, and a student-organised Alternative Escape event will run alongside the rest of The Great Escape’s trade convention programme, the most extensive in the UK.

“BIMM and The Great Escape are two of Brighton’s greatest home grown ideas,” explained BIMM Director Tony Wadsworth. “It’s a huge opportunity for BIMM students to be a part of this industry event and to get closer to the very people who do this stuff for a living. In turn, I’m sure the industry delegates will be impressed and, hopefully, challenged by the questions they get from students.”

The deal brings together Europe’s leading new music festival, attended by over 3,000 music industry delegates and 15,000 music fans, and the UK and Europe’s best-connected modern music college.

The partnership is likely to create an invaluable and direct link between music industry professionals and the talented, proactive students of BIMM.

Kat Morris, Director of The Great Escape, said, “We are thrilled to announce a partnership between The Great Escape and the British & Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM).

“With the UK as our lead international focus for 2015, it makes perfect sense for us to work more closely with BIMM, an institution renowned for educating smart, hungry students and integrating them into the music business.

“Our collaboration will ensure there is an influx of driven, young people into the thriving music industry.”

The strengthened link between BIMM and The Great Escape follows the enormous success of the BIMM Student Sessions at 2014’s Great Escape.

Last year’s event created an educational exchange between music creatives and the music business as well as talks of the very highest caliber.

Vaseema Hamilton, Principal of BIMM London, Brighton, Bristol and Berlin said, “BIMM and The Great Escape share a common goal — to promote opportunities in music, encourage entrepreneurship and to motivate young people to think big and connect to the music industry.

“This is an important partnership for us and we’re delighted to become the Lead Educational Partner on the festivals’ 10th anniversary.”
