CAN YOU MAKE ROOM FOR A GOLDEN OLDIE?

Dogs Trust Shoreham is appealing for ‘furever’ homes for overlooked oldies Prince and Kelsey, who have been waiting and hoping for loving homes as visitors haven’t been able to see past their grey chops.

Proving that age is just a number, this particular dynamic duo have plenty of life in them and are eagerly awaiting a home to call their own. In stark contrast to the average stay of 36 days for Dogs Trust residents, these elderly canines have spent over 1,000 days at the rehoming centre. Longest serving resident Prince has just spent his fifth Christmas there.

Surely someone can give Prince his happy forever home?! Kelsey too? Older dogs might not have so many years left in them but they tend to be calmer, a bit more easy going and less destructive!! Have you ever considered the up sides?!

At a grand old age of 13 (91 in equivalent human years), Labrador cross Kelsey was handed over to the rehoming centre due to a change in circumstances.  Prince – aged nine (or 63 in human equivalent years!) has proved that you can teach old dogs new tricks.

Both pooches have responded well to training. Tracey Rae, Dogs Trust Shoreham Rehoming Centre Manager said, “As much as our staff are enjoying these lovable elderly residents, we would love to see them rehomed so they can enjoy the remainder of their days in a loving home of their own.

“Unfortunately, mature dogs tend to get overlooked in kennels in favour of younger dogs; but these adorable canines still have lots of love and life to give. Dogs Trust never puts a healthy dog to sleep so we will care for them for as long as it takes to find their perfect home. We so hope they find a loving home to spend their twilight years in.”
