Moshimo’s sky high plans
£4million skyline restaurant plans submitted
Brighton’s Moshimo restaurant has re-submitted plans for a five-storey restaurant in the sky above their current building.
The new plans include a 130-cover restaurant above Bartholomew square, with the expansion expected to cost around £4million if they are given permission to begin building.
Their initial plans, which were submitted last year, were turned down by planning officials with fears over its impact on the area, with conservationists saying it will be an eyesore on the surrounding skyline.
Owners of the Japanese restaurant, Karl Jones and Nicholas Rohl, went back to the drawing board to refine their submission after discussions with the council, the updated plans expected to have little impact on the neighbouring buildings.
The construction of the new restaurant is unlikely to have a large impact on the local area either, with the structure to be built off-site in Littlehampton before being lifted into place by a crane.
The building work is estimated to take between three to five days due to the high costs of the frame, with an estimated opening date of spring 2018.
