Seven of our favourite bridal suites in Sussex

OK, admit it. Even if you’re not getting married there’s something awesome about the bridal suite in a hotel. We had a good nose round some of them in Sussex and here’s just a few of our favourites.

Angel House, Hove
webAngel-House-Shoot-12Dripping with original Regency period features this ’Best Bedroom’ suite really lives up to its name. It occupies the whole 2nd floor and is likely to be one of the most memorable rooms you’ll ever stay in. With canopied bed and stunning original Regency fitted furniture, it’s also got an adjoining elegant bathroom complete with an opulent central bath and shower plus all the luxuries you would expect to find in a five star hotel. A sumptuous continental breakfast will be served to your room the following morning so you can enjoy every last minute here in delightful privacy.

If you get married at Goodwood the bridal suite is complimentary for the happy couple. There are a number of different rooms but we love this one with its four-poster and elegant styling. And, depending on the chosen package, the bride and groom get a lovely gift, like membership to the members’ clubhouse the Kennels, up to four months membership to the health club, a beautiful planning book or other goodies such as chauffeur driven Rolls Royce rides, detox pamper days or a golf buggy with personalised signage.

webGrand-Collection-Deluxe-Sea-View
The Grand Hotel, Brighton

This stately beauty is one of our favourite hotels, never mind the suites. A recent renovation and more work to come is preserving the beauty of this grand duchess and we just love the bedrooms. We picked this suite because it’s got beautiful views, its own balcony, bags of space and loads of light. It’s also got a lovely seaside feel with those pastel tones, distressed wood and of course the silver starfish! Bridal packages also mean you can arrange champagne, flowers, chocolates etc to be in the room.

webHotel-du-Vin-suiteHotel du Vin, Brighton
One of our favourite things about the suites at the Hotel du Vin is the whole ‘having your bath in the same room’ thing going on. The Cristal suite, shown here, is the loft suite and the best room in the hotel. A wooden floored room with an 8ft by 8ft size bed, widescreen plasma TV, stunning B&W Zeppelin iPod docking station, twin bath tubs in the bedroom, double walk in showers (wet room), large corner suede sofa and a small private roof terrace with a telescopic sea view.

If you wanted something really different for your, ahem, first night together, it doesn’t come much more unique than the Kraken’s Lair at the Pelirocco. This three-room suite is decorated in a nautical style with tons of crazy features including an 8ft round bed, mirrored ceiling canopy and pole-dancing area. The large planked bathroom includes plunge bath, with double monsoon shower-heads, and twin basins, and there’s also a private courtyard, and its own street entrance for added privacy.

webAshdown-Park-Hotel---front_with_lake_large-(2)Ashdown Park, Wych Cross
One of the loveliest country hotels in Sussex, Ashdown Park has that stately home feel, complete with lakes, woodland, and its own stunning chapel which all go to make it a perfect location for a wedding. And the suites are lovely – just the thing to feel a bit Downton and luxurious. Revamps have seen some lush new fabrics and tones added but the stately home feeling is still very much in evidence. Heavenly.

webPellier-8100Hilton Brighton
If you’re looking for something with clean lines and an amazing view of the sea, the Hilton has some lovely rooms too. We like these for their sheer size and their simplicity. Not everyone wants four poster beds and frilly bits! And you could honestly move a family of six into these suites. We particularly love the marble bathrooms – this is for happy couples who like things nice and understated.
