Youngsters’ turn to learn what’s ‘under the bonnet’

Station Garage in Horsham, the family run Skoda dealership, recently ran a successful Ladies Night car maintenance event and, following such positive feedback, and with students now back into the swing of things at college, the garage has decided to launch a new, free community event for young drivers on Thursday 6 October.

Similar to the popular ladies only events, youngsters and new drivers of all ages and genders are invited to attend the free workshop to learn basic mechanical skills – how to change a tyre, check oil and water levels and jump start a vehicle – all in a safe and secure environment.

The event will run from 6pm to 8pm and takes place in Station Garage’s workshop at their dealership on Billingshurst Road in Broadbridge Heath. The workshop will be led by the company’s friendly and supportive mechanics and provides an ideal opportunity for drivers to truly get to grips on how to look after their car, especially with the winter road conditions that will soon be upon us.

James Thorpe, Dealer Principal at Station Garage, commented, “Although driving lessons may teach new drivers how to safely and confidently manoeuvre a car, they don’t necessarily offer any insight into how to maintain it.

“As well as being confident while on the road, drivers also need to ensure they are comfortable performing basic car maintenance, which is why we feel masterclasses like ours are essential to any new driver. The evening, although designed to be educational, is still set to be great fun and is an ideal opportunity for groups of friends to get together and learn in a relaxed environment.”

The Young Drivers workshop at Station Garage is free to attend but spaces are limited as groups are kept small to ensure everyone gets an opportunity to be hands on.

Those interested in taking part are encouraged to email events@stationgarage.skoda.co.uk ASAP to register their attendance and avoid disappointment.
