Country pursuits

It’s autumn, which can only mean one thing (in the world of outdoor events anyway). It’s the South of England Autumn Show & Game Fair at Ardingly.

Terrier racing, clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing, falconry, blacksmithing, bread making, scarecrow-making (they are only little ones – so not quite scarecrow-building), archery, gundog scurries and dog agility are all available for people to try out at this year’s event, taking place at the South of England Showground on 1 and 2 October.

It’s a chance for people to reconnect with nature and the countryside and revel in activities that have informed country living for centuries.

And there’s amazing food, and it’s really good fun. And there’s MASSIVE tractors and stuff! What more could you want?!

Too much at the event to include here, so check out their website for more information about the Colours of Autumn event (and all the other work done by the South of England Agricultural Society).
