The Lightning Bolt – Lloyd Ellett

I won my 20th professional fight on February 12 at the Brighton Metropole Hotel against Slovakian, Andrej Moravek. I wasn’t overly happy with my performance but I got the win without getting hit and managed to put him down a couple of times.

The feedback I received from friends and fans was all positive, which was nice to hear, and the support that cheered me on was fantastic. It was a great night and I’m pleased that my teammate Nicky Jenman won the Southern Area middleweight belt in his fight.

I started training again on the Sunday straight after the fight so just the one day off for me! I was back in the gym all that week, training hard right up to the Friday before I went away for a weekend break with friends.

On my return, the following week, I was straight back to Brighton to the gym, training hard again and sparring with Chris Eubank Jr.

I’ve now left the iBox Gym in Bromley after a long and eventful two-and-a-half years and switched to my manager Scott Welch’s gym so that I can train three times a day which is much better for me.

I left on good terms and I was pleased to see my former teammate and good friend, Bradley Skeete win the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles at the weekend, so I left on a high note for the club.

I had sat down with my manager and decided after the last fight in mid-February that it was time for me to move on as I had begun to go a bit stale. Since then, I feel rejuvenated and I’m like a different fighter already. The hunger is well and truly back and I’m firing on all cylinders.

It’s the start of a new chapter in my career with a new team, new setup, improved training conditions and times and will now compete at the lower class of welterweight.

It’s exciting times and I might be fighting in a couple of weeks in Slough and possibly also on April 1 in Tolworth as well. My manager is looking to finalise the dates as we speak. I’m looking to get a couple of good wins under my belt on these shows and then challenge for a major title soon after.
