This summer are you ready to ‘jump, jump for your love,’ to Girls Aloud at Brighton Pride?
The Brighton and Hove Pride Festival is always an unforgettable event. And Brighton Pride 2024 will be no different. Make certain to head along to this fun-filled two-day community fundraiser event at Preston Park.
Artists, acts and tents
Pride is a festival where you can ‘relax and take it easy’ knowing ‘everybody’s gonna love today.’ And do this whilst dancing to the sounds of headliners Mika and Girls Aloud. You can expect to hear all their greatest hits, surrounded by a vibrant community spreading love and acceptance.
But ‘don’t stop movin’ just yet! S Club are also expected to ‘reach for the stars’ as they bring their infamous hit songs to Brighton Pride. Want
a Saltburn inspired summer? Well Sophie Ellis-Bextor will have you kicking up a ‘murder on the dance floor’. This August, all the artists at pride, such as Gabrielle, are certain to make your ‘dreams come true’.
Alongside the musical talent on the main stage, you can expect to gaze upon alternative performances such as Britain’s Got Talent performer and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star, Danny Beard.
But if smaller stages are more your thing, FABULOSO is hosting an array of inclusive stages and entertainment zones across Preston Park. These include the Pride Dance Tent, Beefmince Dance Tent, Cabaret Big Top, Diva Dance Tent, Polyglamorous, the Cocoa Butter Club Stage, Queertown and more. With over 150 LGBTQ+ acts, there’s undoubtably someone for everyone.
With a spectacular line-up, get ready to celebrate love, diversity, and community. All while raising money for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, the Pride Social Impact Fund, Pride Cultural Development Fund and Pride Solidarity Fund.
Pride Parade and Dog Show
As always, Brighton & Hove Pride LGBTQ+ Day Parade will open the weekend under this year’s theme of joy: celebrating life, spirit, and resilience. Kicking off Pride with the spectacularly colourful pride parade, begin your weekend at Hove Lawns. join the parade as it winds through the city. Each year thousands of people take to the streets to watch and cheer on the celebrations.
With so many eyes on the parade, it importantly helps showcase charities, community groups, small businesses and emergency services, praising their assistance to the LBGTQ+ community. Prefer something a little quieter? The Pride Community Day & Dog Show will also return on the 31st of August in Preston Park.
History of Brighton Pride
Starting in 1973 by Sussex Gay Liberation Front, Brighton Pride has cemented itself in history as one of the world’s most famous pride festivals. In 2004 it was awarded charitable status, and each year the numbers of attendees grow, with an estimated half a million people
travelling to the city each year to celebrate the vibrant celebrations.
“Pride is always an amazing weekend of celebration and inclusiveness of our city, and this year is going to be incredibly momentous with the fantastic Girls Aloud and Mika headlining our two-day FABULOSO community fundraiser,” says Pride MD Paul Kemp.
