Brighton Racing Roundup – Marathonbet Festival of Racing

From the 8th to the 10th of August Brighton Racecourse is hosting its biggest annual event — the Marathonbet Festival of Racing — and over the three days there’s plenty of excitement to be had.

The festival is billed to be the most unique racing event ever, with a little something for everyone. The expected normalities are all there, with the luxury dress code and premiere racing on show, but Brighton racecourse is keen to show that they do things a little differently.

On each day seven show-stopping races are going to be held, with live entertainment in all the gaps between. We’ve put together a roundup of what’s happening each day, and we’re sure you’ll find something that takes your fancy.

Marstons Opening Day – Wednesday 8th August

First up, the Marstons Opening Day. Aimed specifically toward enjoying excellent racing, the day is sure to see a plethora of fiercely competitive battles on the track, with some neck-and-neck finishes sure to leave even the most composed race fans’ heart rate soaring.

The best way to enjoy the opening day is to sit back, sip on your chilled beverage, enjoy some of the finest tasting refreshments you can lay your hands on, and let the racing do the talking. If you’re a thrill-seeker, why not have a flutter on a race or two, too?!

Ladies Day– Thursday 9th August

The most exciting and popular day without doubt is Ladies Day on the 9th, filled with extravagant dresses and fascinators on show, a complimentary photobooth on the ladies’ lawn and plenty of bottles of Prosecco to drink. There’s even a competition for the best dressed.

The premier highlight on the luxurious racecourse calendar, this day is the most popular of all, and the ticket sales have been through the roof. Get in quick if you want to be a part of the festivities.

Festival Finale – Friday 10th August

On the third and final day, the Festival Finale will cap off the fantastic event — a day to reflect and celebrate the fun and vibrant atmosphere of the past week. Expect a party mood upon arrival at midday, right up until the last race at 5:00pm.

This final day is the perfect way to bring celebrations to a close, and it’s sure to be a great day out for all involved. It’s definitely not something to be missed!

Over 12,000 people are expected pass through the gates this year, and if it’s anything like previous events it’s sure to be great fun all around.

Each year 1,500 bottles of Prosecco are popped, 1,000 bowls of delicious fresh strawberries are devoured and around 8,000 pairs of high heels are sure to be cast aside at the end of it all. If that sounds like a good day out to you — grab those fascinators and get yourself to the races!
