Last month I reviewed the wonderful ‘Wild’ by Emily Hughes and her second book for Flying Eye Books is just as beautiful. The Little Gardener is a heart-warming tale about working hard on the things you love, even when things get tough.

Whatever Happened to My Sister by Simone Ciraolo

Simone Ciraolo has created a truly delicate and capricious tale about growing up and the love between siblings. Her illustrations are a charming mix of water colours and pencils which really allows the text to breath. A book that many will relate to and understand.

Giles was born in East Sussex in 1977 and grew up on the south coast. His book ‘The Fearsome Beastie’ (Maverick Arts Publishing) won The People’s Book Prize 2012, as well as the Heart of Hawick Children’s Book Award 2013, Bizziebaby Gold Award and Highly Commended in The Forward National Literature Award in the US. 2016 will see the release of a CG animated short film of ‘The Fearsome Beastie’ starring Brian Blessed and Alison Steadman.
