He also outlined the plans to ‘future-proof’ the college and its students. This ensures they are equipped to take land-based and agricultural businesses forward to be as profitable and successful as possible.

Support for the future

Leo Hickish, Chairman and Partner at the estate and lettings agent Batcheller Monkhouse, said: “In our work as land agents, one of our key roles is to advise farmers and landowners on the best strategy for their business, whether that be grant applications, general management or diversification. I was very interested to hear Jeremy outline his forward desires for his students. Who may well be our clients in the future.”

Batcheller Monkhouse is a long-time supporter of the Heathfield Agricultural Show. Their Rural Business Breakfast saw 70 farmers and landowners enjoy a lively debate. They then enjoyed a cooked Sussex breakfast in the sunshine after the wettest Spring on record.

The Conservative MP for the area Huw Merriman attended the breakfast. Merriman confirmed his commitment to the constituency and his views on the importance of sustainability.
