Take the chore out of hair removal

Don’t spend your precious evenings pruning, let The Wax and Thread Company take care of it

It is a woman’s most loathed part of her beauty regime.

It is a task that for 88 per cent of women in the UK will consume over four months of their lifetime.

It is hair removal.

Whether it’s shaving, waxing or threading, removing unwanted body hair is a chore that takes time, effort and accuracy if it is to be done right.

However, with the over-indulgence of Christmas time now a distant memory and one eye firmly focused on the reappearance of the summer sun in the coming months, it is a chore that mustn’t be forgotten as you once again begin to treat your body as the temple it is.

In Sussex we are lucky enough to be home to many salons but in January The Wax and Thread Company opened on Church Street, Brighton offering a calm and luxurious set of hair removal treatments.

Focusing solely on hair removal, you can forget all about what is going on and leave it in the hands of professionals, meaning you have time to think about the more important issues in life.

“With the current, ever-so-busy lifestyle most people now lead, we want people to spend less time in the bathroom pruning and preening and more time enjoying life,” explains Faith, the founder of The Wax and Thread Company.

“Hair removal is regarded as more of a maintenance than a luxury treat but that doesn’t mean it’s a chore you have to endure. While the emphasis is on removing the hair, clients are encouraged to relax in the calming vintage-themed salon and, by specialising in one area, this make our clients feel confident that they are in good hands.”

While many may look to the relatively new options, including laser and IPL treatments, they can be expensive, do not offer the same health benefits and are simply not for everyone.

“Temporarily removing the hairs by waxing or threading help to boost confidence and waxing also exfoliates the skin as it removes a layer of dead cells from the surface of skin leaving skin soft, smooth and rejuvenated,” Faith states.

Faith, who set up the company, has been in the local health and beauty industry for more than a decade and, with the knowledge built up during that time, was able to spot a gap in the market.

“Having worked in salons in Brighton for 10 years, I saw that while there’s a high demand for waxing throughout the year, there is nowhere that specialises in just waxing,” she says.

“Threading ‘bars’ have cropped up in hairdressers and shops, which is great if you don’t mind being on show to passers by but, if one want a private treatment in a comfortable surrounding where does one go? With this in mind The Wax And Thread Company was born!”

Not only does the salon feature two waxing rooms but it offers a dedicated threading room away from prying eyes and, with the luxurious boutique atmosphere, it is clear what their aim is.

She says: “We want to be second to none and be the place to go to for waxing and threading. We want to set the bar for high standards and professionalism and share our expertise with our clients.”
