‘You Bet’ one woman show – Brighton Fringe Festival
Kathy Diamond brings the feisty, no-filter Bet Lynch to The Round Georges, for Brighton Fringe Festival
Kathy Diamond is bringing Bet Lynch to The Round Georges in her one-woman show, ’You Bet.’ It will be an evening of laughs as you follow Bet in her last 24 hours at The Rovers Return.
Four years after Kathy first embodied Bet, she returns to this summer’s Brighton Fringe Festival, directed by James Cú.
Kathy Diamond, as Bet Lynch
Bet Lynch will forever be an iconic character from Coronation Street. The Corrie landlady was flirty, bold, sometimes manipulative, but ultimately soft at the core.
As a northerner who was brought up on the show, Kathy has always admired Bet’s character.
“[Bet] was a totally exciting character for me as a little girl. Her outfits, her earrings, her sense of humour, and larger than life personality made me stay glued to the box,” Kathy recounts.
Kathy first adorned the persona of Bet Lynch under the direction of James Cú, in 2018, at The Southern Belle in Hove.
“It went down really well and it gave me the confidence to then apply for the following year’s Brighton Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe. It was all planned, and then covid hit, and that was that.” Kathy told us.
Feeling that she needed the challenge again though, Kathy has brought Bet out of the leopard print suitcase!
