POLPO set for Brighton opening

New Venetian restaurant to open on New Road in December

Russell Norman

In December Venetian restaurant POLPO Brighton will open behind the backing of Russell Norman and business partner Richard Beatty.

POLPO-RESTO-1-copyFollowing on from the tradition of its sister restaurants, POLPO Brighton is a bacaro and signatures on the menu will include cicchetti such as fried stuffed olives; arancini; and chopped chicken liver crostini. Small plates will include fritto misto; pizzetta bianca; spicy pork and fennel meatballs and sliced flank steak.

POLPO would not be complete without a spritz, and will be served with both Aperol and Campari, alongside Negronis and Bellinis.

There’s also an exclusive All English Martini made with Blackdown’s Vermouth & Gin (both made in Sussex) and garnished with a bay leaf.

The restaurant, which will be located near to the Brighton Dome and Theatre Royal at 20 New Road, will be modelled on the wine bars of Venice and will offer a rustic and stripped back interior.

This will comprise a reclaimed timber floor, rusted tin ceiling and a huge three-metre skylight that will flood the restaurant with light.

OPENING HOURS:
Monday to Saturday: 12 noon to 11:30pm
Sunday and Bank Holidays: 12 noon to 10.30pm
