Your time to become a knight in shining armour has arrived
Have you ever dreamed about being a knight in shining armour or ruling the realm? Or maybe you fancy trying out the peasant way of life, experiencing the working day like never before. Well, your chance is here. Think beautiful weather, jousting fights and medieval markets in the height of summer.
The UK’s only immersive medieval festival returns for its ninth annual event this August. A staple event for thousands of families, the Loxwood Joust festival brings you full-contact jousting, a living history village, witches, an executioner, a full battle enactment, and running characters and story lines every year.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you want to forget the stresses of every day life and experience something you’ve never experienced before, then this event is for you.
Leave the modern world behind as you enter the living history village, where inhabitants live and work exactly how they would have done in the Middle Ages. Browse their traditional wares in the Medieval Marketplace, which is home to dance troupes, traders and a court jester to entertain the crowds throughout the day.
The Woodland stage hosts live performances from The Sultan’s Sirens belly dancers; Mediaeval Baebes on weekend one, and Trobar De Morte on weekend two. Immerse yourself in the archaic atmosphere of the earlier centuries, with cultivating costumes and exhilarating entertainment.
The Children’s Kingdom is a festival within the festival, where kids can try archery, go for face and wound painting, pelt the peasant and enrol in knight school. The memories will last a lifetime, and the photos will be a perfect accessory in your family home.
Additional bookable adult activities include chainmail workshops, copper bowl making and a medieval feast in the Grand Banqueting Marquee. There’s something for everyone in this mystical world.
